2 Black Berkey Replacement Water Filters - Big Berkey

Customer Rating :
Rating: 3.5

2 Black Berkey Replacement Water Filters - Big Berkey

Product Description

Set of 2 replacement filters. Will fit the following Berkey systems: Travel Berkey, Big Berkey, Royal Berkey, Imperial Berkey, Crown Berkey, Berkey Light. Black Berkey Purification Elements are more powerful than any other gravity filter element currently available. In fact, we tested the Black Berkey purification elements with more than 10,000 times the concentration of pathogens per liter than is required by standard test protocol. This concentration of pathogens is so great that the post filtered water should be expected to contain 100,000 or more pathogens per liter (99.99% reduction - the requirement for pathogenic removal). Incredibly the purification elements removed 100%. Absolutely no pathogens were cultured from the effluent or were able to be detected, even under an electron microscope, setting a new standard in water purification.

Black Berkey purification elements are so powerful, they can remove red food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other filtration element can duplicate this performance.

The powerful Black Berkey purification elements also remove or reduce viruses, pathogenic cysts, parasites, harmful or unwanted chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides, VOCs, detergents, organic solvents, trihalomethanes, cloudiness, silt, sediment, nitrates, nitrites, heavy metals, foul tastes and odors, yet they leave in the healthful and beneficial minerals that your body needs.

  • 2 Black Berkeys good for 6000 Gallons
  • Recleanable and Self-Sterilizing

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes Water Drinkable, September 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: 2 Black Berkey Replacement Water Filters - Big Berkey
We live in rural Alaska and the water here is full of iron, not to mention other metals, but iron is the worst. There are times when the water that comes out of the faucet is orange or brown. We have used this water filtration system for 4 years. I am confident in saying that the filters make the water drinkable. I am not sure of the % of metals it removes, but I do know that once our water is filtered it does not smell like iron, it is not orange, or brown, and it tastes clean. I would recommend this product to anyone who has concerns about their drinking water.

1.0 out of 5 stars Berkey Quality is now a distant memory, January 13, 2012

This review is from: 2 Black Berkey Replacement Water Filters - Big Berkey
I purchased the Imperial Berkey about 2 years ago. The unit came with 6 Black Berkey filters. I used only 2 at a time. 3 months ago I replaced the original first 2 Black Berkey filters with a pair from an unopened box. This left me with 2 more new filters left.

After one month, the water started tasting funny. I looked inside and discovered that the Black Berkey filters were both coming apart and oozing some gelatinous material into the water compartment where the filters were.

I have tried and tried to contact Berkey, but there phone number is just a voice recording. They have not answered my numerous emails. I contacted the distributor who is not at fault. He has been overwhelmed with similar complaints.

I cleaned out the Berkey unit completely and installed the final two Black Berkey filters. Last week, the same thing happened again! The filters were coming apart on the bottom where the black part is supposed to be sealed with the black plastic... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective filters, December 13, 2011

This review is from: 2 Black Berkey Replacement Water Filters - Big Berkey
We have stream water at our ranch. For the past 11 years we used the $35.00 PUR countertop filter without problems. But I believed Berkey's advertising claims. I wanted filters that were the best, that could be scrubbed and reused. In the Spring of 2011, we ordered a Royal Berkey, and several replacement filters (the order was over $800.00). We set it up, and started using it. I have to say, Berkey is sloppy in so many areas. We didn't get the knob to lift the lid with, so I fashioned one from a drawer pull. I was supposed to get two plugs for the bottom of the top reservior, but only got one, so I had to use three filters instead of two.

I recently read that there is a defect in some of the black filters where it attaches to it's plastic base. I did the 'red dye test'. I poured water with red food color into the top. Berkey says the water should come out clear. I lifted the top up to see what was happening. Nothing was coming out of two of the filters, but pink,... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Well-Built Ultrasonic Humidifier. But for Small Rooms Only., February 9, 2007

The Germ Guardian H-2000 is the best ultrasonic humidifier I've seen in a decade. But that only means that it works. The humidifier is well-crafted but thoughtlessly designed. I was pleased with a couple of ultrasonics that I had years ago. When their motors eventually died and I needed replacements, I found that ultrasonic humidifiers had all but disappeared from the market by the mid-1990s. So I bought evaporative humidifiers instead. The trouble with evaporatives is that they require a wick, which molds easily and pervasively and must be replaced at least every two weeks. That's expensive. It costs me $150 per year to run each of my evaporative humidifiers. I'd rather have ultrasonics, which are less prone to mold, less expensive to operate, and quieter. When ultrasonic humidifiers reappeared on the market a few years ago, I bought some....and returned them all. They broke within weeks and left puddles on the floor.

This brings me to the Germ Guardian H-2000. If you want... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great......, November 16, 2007
By
First, let me say that mirasreviews review was extremely accurate. With that said, I give this machine 3 stars because there is no warm mist. As already mentioned, by the time the mist is one inch away from the machine it is cold, so, what's the point? Basically, this is a cold mist machine, and you should know that before you buy it. If you have anything within a foot of the spray, it will get soaked, especially if if you have selected the max setting. The directional spray is pretty good, however, I find it works best if the machine is a couple of feet off of the ground. It does not seem to force the humidified air far enough, so I set it on a table, and that does the trick. So far, we have not had any puddles or leaks of any kind. It is very quiet. Water capacity is good at 1.4 gallons, and does run for a long time if it is not on its maximum setting. We bought this because my daughter has croup and our pediatrician recommended trying a dehumidifier. We bought this one without much... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Greatly disappointed by this overpriced and mediocre humidifier, February 11, 2009
This review is from: H2000 Manual Ultrasonic Humidifier (Health and Beauty)
I have asthma and allergies and have been looking high and low for a humidifier that does not breed mold, as so many of them do. So I splurged on this expensive digital model. I also wanted a reliable humidifier for my toddler's room, in order to prevent wintertime coughs and colds.

Unfortunately, this humidifier is a great disappointment. It does not live up to its claims of being mold-free; quite to the contrary, the long air passage tube grew reddish mold very quickly. Water also inexplicably collects in the bottom white basin. I called the company to resolve the numerous problems with the humidifier, yet they did not give me satisfactory explanations (e.g., they told me that the water collection is normal, yet why should water collect in the basin of the humidifier? Isn't that a prescription for mold growth?) Plus, as a previous poster noted, the screw holding one of the major components quickly rusted. I wish I had not spent so much money on this humidifier. I... Read more
